Client: Big Hearts Community Trust
Creative Direction/Design/Animation: Marie-Julie Fleury
Big Hearts came to me with a script and a video idea: they wanted to bring awareness to the support and activities they provide to kinship carers. They had a short deadline to complete the video, which would go live just before their next Kinship Family Day. With only a week to storyboard and animate, we worked together on developing a superhero theme for the piece, focusing on the carers' challenges.
Moodboard
I decided to use a limited colour palette, alternating maroons and beige backgrounds, in order to have lots of contrast between the titles and the different sequences. Big Hearts secondary palette was used mostly for the characters and elements to keep them bright and playful. While the video was informative, it should also stay upbeat and positive.
The video was very well received by the Big Hearts team and kinship carers. It was amazing to also get direct feedback from the viewers, and contribute a little to the community in this way.

“Our charity contacted Marie-Julie to create an ambitious awareness video about Kinship Care and we were absolutely delighted with the result! Marie-Julie managed to understand perfectly the various backgrounds & family stories behind this form of care and these are reflected in the video using a positive and inspirational theme. Working with her was straightforward, easy and very pleasant throughout the project! Thank you!“
